May is around the corner and it doesn’t only bring the good weather, but also plenty of events that you certainly won’t want to miss. This month’s event guide is very diverse – from film festivals to stand-up comedy shows, this month is especially marked by the return of Algarve Design Meeting to the city of Faro, after a two-year absence due to the pandemic situation. We open our calendar with our monthly highlight – the Algarve Design Meeting. The event is set to return to the mythical former Beer Factory in Faro, from the 23rd to the 28th of May, after a very felt two-year absence. ADM is an initiative by Algarve’s University, along with other national and European organizations, that annually converts the city of Faro into the international capital of design, through various activities like exhibitions, conferences, performances, film sessions and videomapping, allowing the community to be in direct contact with the creative industry. On May 13th, Os Azeitonas perform at the Lagos Cultural Centre. This is the return of the band to the concert halls and theather rooms all over the country, to present their most recent show – “Ambos os 3 (+Uns)”. In a more intimate and relaxed environment, Os Azeitonas will perform some of their biggest hits in what they consider to be much more than a mere concert. For more information, click here.
On may 18th, Teatro das Figuras in Faro welcomes Diogo Batáguas with “The Process”. After the viral web-series, in this stand-up show Diogo will talk about all the lawsuits which he has been the target of, and some other stuff if he feels like it. For more information and tickets, click here.
Martinho da Vila, the brazilian samba’s living legend takes back to the stage and will be in Faro for a show that will revisit all his greatest hits, and fortify his love story with the Portuguese audience. ‘Juntos e Misturados’ happens on the20th of May, also at Teatro das Figuras. The Italian Movie Festival takes place for the first time in Lagos, between the 25th and 28th of May at the Public Library of Lagos Júlio Dantas. This the 15th edition of the festival and it will visit 10 Portuguese cities from north to south and exhibit a series of Italian movies internationally acclaimed by the critics, and some of the biggest box offices successes in the country.
