At 3HB Hotels, we believe that sustainability begins with small gestures, gestures that truly make a difference. With this spirit in mind, and under the motto “Christmas lives in every gesture” this year the traditional Christmas trees gave way to stone pines, living symbols of the group’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
During the Christmas season, four pine trees, decorated with messages shared by employees, brought special meaning to the 3HB Group offices and to the 3HB Faro property. More than a decorative element, they reflected the unity, shared values, and environmental responsibility that guide the brand’s day-to-day activities.
Once their mission was complete, and in keeping with the proverb “a good child always returns home””, January marked the time to return these pine trees to their place of origin. Members from various teams came together to replant the trees in the surrounding area of Barranco das Belharucas beach , in Olhos de Água, giving back to nature what had been temporarily borrowed from it.
This simple gesture carries a profound impact. Beyond protecting a native species, o the stone pine (pinus pinea) plays an essential role in combating erosion and preserving the stability of coastal cliffs, helping to protect the soil from the effects of wind and rain.
In addition to its commitment to nature, this initiative also reflected 3HB Hotels’ dedication to employer branding and to employer branding development, and to strengthening its organizational culture by engaging employees in initiatives with real impact, fostering team spirit, team building, and a sense of belonging.
We believe that sustainability in tourism is the path toward a more balanced future. This principle is reflected not only in occasional initiatives but also in the daily operations of our properties. A prime example is the group’s hotel five-star hotel in Faro, designed with particular attention to environmental concerns, incorporating smart systems that help reduce energy and water consumption.
Another example that promotes the reduction of environmental impact was the replacement of traditional plastic bottles with reusable bottles in the Holiday and All-Inclusive clusters throughout 2025. In addition to being an environmental protection measure, this initiative also became a keepsake that our guests take home with them.
The recognition of this journey, built step by step, arrived in 2025, with all units of the 3HB Hotels group – 3HB Faro, 3HB Clube Humbria, 3HB Guaraná, 3HB Golden Beach, 3HB Falésia Garden e 3HB Falésia Beach – being awarded the Green Key 2025, an important acknowledgment of best environmental, economic, and social practices in the tourism sector.
The Green Key is an environmental label promoted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and, in Portugal, has been coordinated since 2006 by the Associação Bandeira Azul de Ambiente e Educação (ABAAE).The program’s mission is to promote sustainable tourism by recognizing establishments that implement responsible and sustainable practices.
