Carnival is coming!
Carnival is a sign of holidays or a long weekend, take these days to travel to the Algarve to rest and spend some relaxed moments with your family and take the opportunity to get to know better the Algarve traditions in this season.
Masks, floats and samba schools get out on the streets all over the Algarve. Here are our suggestions:
On the 3rd and 5th of March with the theme “Deixa-te de Estórias” (Don’t tell me Stories) Paderne will be flooded with fun and energy.
With more than 100 years of existence, in Loulé is celebrated the most famous Carnival of the region. “O Circo Selfie” (Selfie Circus) is the theme of Loulé Carnival, this year focusing on making this event more environmentally sustainable using 100% biodegradable paper cups, reusable up to 4 or 5 times and compostable. The aim is to reduce the use of disposable plastic. The parades are held from March the 3rd to March the 5th at Avenida José da Costa Mealha from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Quarteira promises to animate with the theme "A Volta ao Mundo em 3 dias” (Around the World in 3 days). The parades will be held on March the 2nd, 3rd and 5th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Carnival comes to an end on March the 6th, Ash Wednesday at 9:00 p.m.
Sines is one of the Portuguese cities with the greatest carnival tradition and the city is preparing herself for another colourful and bright Carnival. The parades will run from March the 3rd to March the 5th. In Sines on Monday, the show also happens at night with its famous night parade with illuminated floats.
On March 1st Carnival is dedicated to the youngest revelers and at almost all cities there is a child parade on the main avenues welcoming Carnival!
