The Algarve has a fantastic weather, an unparalleled culture and a unique landscape. A wonderful coast and mild climate for most of the year, with average temperatures between 15° C in Winter and 30 ° C in Summer, make the Algarve one of the most popular tourist destinations in southern Europe.

The name Algarve derives from the Arabic "Al-Gharb", meaning the West, and the legacy left by five centuries of Arab domination, is still visible in architecture, crafted chimneys and tiles.

Although in Summer, the Algarve coastline attracts a huge number of visitors, you can still get away from the large crowds even in places as well known as Albufeira or Portimão.

The city of Faro, the capital of the Algarve, definitely deserves a visit. The city has been growing maintaining a peaceful and charming environment, mainly down town and inside the walls of its historic centre. Take the opportunity to take a boat trip and experience bird watching in beautiful Ria Formosa.

Lose yourself in the historic centre of the picturesque town of Tavira or be dazzled by the city of Lagos from which you can reach the beaches of the Southwest.

And there are plenty of beaches! Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are in the Algarve. There are beaches to suit all tastes, rocky beaches, deserted beaches, lovely little coves, golden cliffs, caves and sandy beaches as far as the eye can see.

But the Algarve isn’t just sea-bathing and lying in the sand, and in the interior of Algarve you will find beautiful vegetation, wonderful waterfalls and peaceful villages. Discover serra de Monchique or serra do Caldeirão!

And if you are a food lover you can delight yourself with the flavours of the Algarve cuisine!

Algarve is the perfect place to eat all kinds of fish and seafood, such as sardines, tuna fish and codfish, oysters or razor clams and also the well-known Vila do Bispo´s goose barnacles. But you can also try various delicacies and even sweet potatoes, typical of the Alzejur locality.

The Algarve is full of restaurants where you can taste the sea and the mountains. You will find traditional recipes, but also innovative restaurants distinguished with several Michelin stars.

And for the greediest, who can’t resist a sweetie, don’t miss out the wonderful traditional Algarve confectionery that is so rich and varied. Dare to try the Morgadinhos (small cakes made with sugar, almond, eggs, angel hair and pumpkin) Dom Rodrigo (egg and almond sweets) or even a carob tart and risk to taste it together with a brandy of Medronho! For golf lovers, the Algarve is without doubt the Paradise! The Algarve has the best golf courses in the world, with perfect landscapes for fantastic and relaxed golf days. Many of these courses receive major golf tournaments such as Portugal Masters.

For those looking for more adrenaline, the Algarve also offers exceptional conditions for the practice of various water sports such as Sailing, Kitesurf, Surf and Surf Paddle, being Sagres the preferred spot for lovers of this type of sports.

For a night full of fun and excitement, we find in the Algarve a vibrant nightlife full of café terraces, marinas, casinos, bars and nightclubs.
